ATTORNEY PETER REES
I am an attorney focused exclusively on U.S. immigration law. I represent companies and institutions seeking to sponsor foreign national employees for short and long-term positions, as well as individuals filing self-petitions, applications for family members, and requesting relief from removal. Admitted to the Bar in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I am a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and currently serve on the State Legislative Relations Committee for AILA's New England Chapter, and on the Membership Committee for AILA's Rome District Chapter.
I earned my J.D. from Boston College Law School in 2014 (cum laude). During my studies I undertook a semester-in-practice with a global immigration law firm in Frankfurt, Germany, and also represented individuals in immigration court through the school's immigration clinic. After graduating, I spent over five years working for an immigration law firm in Boston. During this time my clients included leading academic institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises in the IT and biotech sectors, regional financial institutions, a Pulitzer Prize winning photographer, entrepreneurs, artists, and prominent researchers across numerous scientific disciplines.
Alongside this work, I have represented individuals seeking defense from removal in immigration court, on a pro bono basis. This includes foreign nationals from Guatemala, Honduras, Cameroon, El Salvador, and the West Bank.
Originally from Leicestershire in the UK, I came to the U.S. via Berlin, Germany, where I spent over three years working for a non-governmental organization focused on international relations and cultural exchange. Prior to studying law, I earned a bachelor's degree in German (University of Exeter), and a master's degree in international relations (University of Birmingham), both in the UK. Outside the office I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and playing soccer.
As of January 2022, I have been tracking NIW appeal decisions published by the Administrative Appeals Office at www.niwappeals.com
